Securities and antitrust violations are often the subject of class action litigation and can involve stockbroker fraud or misconduct involving unauthorized or excessive trading, misrepresentations or lack of diversification as well as negligence and fraud in handling investments. Large companies, particularly credit card companies or other financial institutions can be sued in a class action suit for unfair business practices when a company engages in fraud or overcharges or fails to provide services to individual customers. Mass tort suits are frequently used for claims of injury from defective products including pharmaceutical products and dangerous drugs, defective machinery, tools, motor vehicle defects, i.e. seat belts and tires, toys and electronics.
